College Problems: #1

SPIDERS :(

So me and my little sister Sydney decided that this fall we would get an apartment by ourselves. We both go to ICC and play softball and lived 45 minutes away from East Peoria. Living on your own seemed to look a lot more fun and easier on the movies than in real life.

About a month ago we noticed that our apartment seemed to be infested with spiders, my BIGGEST fear of all time! And when I say biggest, I mean deathly afraid! We were killing about three to four a day and let me tell you these spiders weren't just some little, the size of a finger nail critters, they were larger than the top of a soda can! Supposedly the owners of the apartment complex sprayed every apartment for spiders a couple weeks ago, but after hearing this story you will agree along with Sydney and I that, that was hardly the case!

Last Thursday night Sydney and I arrived at our apartment late, just getting home from an away softball game. I went straight to the bathroom to hop in the shower when I heard Syd screaming. My stomach dropped and my heart started to beat a little faster because I knew right away what she was screaming about. When I ran out of the bathroom and to her side my eyes shot right to the monster that was crawling up our wall. I mean you couldn't miss this sucker! Don't get me wrong I’ve have seen big spiders because I live in a farm house, but this guy was HUGE and black and deformed, by far the ugliest spider I've encountered yet! So their we were, both screaming and holding onto each other with death grips. We were yelling back and forth at each other to go kill the spider before it ate us both. After about 30 minutes of debating who was going to kill it ( and no I'm not over exaggerating) we decided that Syd would smash it and I would be behind her holding a bottle of hair spray so just in case she missed it, I could freeze it death! So to make the story short Syd ended up smashing it and we ended up calling the manager of our apartment to get our home sprayed again because it was coming to the point where we were scared to sleep in our beds because they were against the wall and we didn't want to end up like the guy off the Geico commercial that got thrown around the room by a spider.

It has been a week since the Orkin man had came and sprayed and we have yet to see a spider anywhere in our apartment! Maybe it was the Orkin man or maybe it was because all of the other spiders saw what would happen to them if they were to come out. Note: Today is Wednesday and we just now got the dead spider off our wall, not because me and Syd did it but our friend was brave enough to risk her own life and scrap it off for us!
